Professor Akyeampong joined the History faculty at Harvard upon receiving his Ph.D. in African History from the University of Virginia in 1993. He received his master's degree at Wake Forest University in North Carolina in 1989, where he concentrated on English labor history, and his bachelor's degree in History and Religions from the University of Ghana at Legon in 1984. He is a proud Ghanaian and avid supporter of youth development efforts in Ghana and Africa as a whole. He has guided and mentored many young people in their academic and professional lives. It's a true honor to have him on our board of patrons.

Mr. Awuah is the founder and president of Ashesi University, a private university now noted for its innovative approach to delivering quality education in Ghana . He holds bachelor degrees in Engineering and Economics from Swarthmore College , and an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. In 2004, Swarthmore awarded Mr. Awuah an honorary doctorate to recognize his leadership in African higher education. He a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Pacific Council on International Policy, and the Tau Beta Pi national honor society for excellence in engineering. He is a poignant example of visionary leadership-the kind young Ghanaians can aspire to-and it is a privilege to have him on our board of patrons.

Ama Ata Aidoo is a celebrated Ghanaian playwright and scholar, writing her first play The Dilemma of a Ghost in 1964.She has written several short stories, novels, plays and essays on the status of the African woman. Her book 'Changes' (1991)won her the 1992 Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best Book (Africa).In addition to that she has received many other literary awards. A recurring theme in her works is women's liberation and empowerment. She holds a degree from the University of Ghana and served as a lecturer there for sometime and also in the USA . A one time Ghana Minister of Education (1982-83) Ama Ata Aidoo is committed to women's liberation and empowerment. Ama Ata Aidoo is a cofounder of the Organization of Women Writers of Africa Inc which was formed in 1991 to help with the development and advancement of the literature of women writers from Africa and its Diaspora. She has keen interests in youth empowerment and development issues and we are proud to have her as a patron.

Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia is an industrious young professional who is recognized both locally and internationally. In fact, The Ghanaian Chronicle characterized him as the “epitome of youth achievement” and he recently received the “Young Professional Award from the Ghana National Excellence Awards Foundation. Mr. Kuenyehia holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in law from Oxford University, and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He is currently the Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales and Ghana, Director of Oxford & Beaumont Investments & Nominees Limited, and serves on the management team of Standard Trust Bank Ghana Limited. He also serves as the youngest board member of Metropolitan (MET) Insurance Company and Chase Petroleum Ghana Limited and Capital Alliance Limited. Outside of the professional realm, Mr. Kuenyehia dedicates time to youth empowerment efforts by serving as a member of the advisory board of a prominent NGO, Summit of Young African Business Leaders (SOYABL), established to expose promising youth in Ghana to Wall Street. He is also an adjunct lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship and is in the process of co-authoring two textbooks on the business sector in Ghana. Mr. Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia is a truly an exemplary leader and we are honored to have him on our board.

Atta Addo

Atta Addo is the Founder and President of the Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its affiliated projects wings, GSoluxions® and www.ghanaunite.com . After graduating from Presec, Legon where he was a highly decorated distinction student and Deputy Senior Prefect, Atta gained a national scholarship to study for the International Baccalaureate Diploma at Red Cross Nordic United World College in Norway . Thereafter, he was accepted to Harvard University in Cambridge , MA where he now concentrates in Government and Economics. Atta is a Shelby Davis United World College Scholar, an Editor for the Harvard International Review and the Managing Editor of "Nyansapo", a journal of the Ghana Think Foundation. He has been published in three poetry anthologies and has received prizes for his literary pursuits. He also serves on the boards of two other Harvard student organizations. He hopes to pursue careers in law, finance and academia after his studies. In his spare time he loves to blog, cook or do volunteer work.

Emmanuel Mensah is Co-Founder and Vice President of the Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. As a junior in Chemu Secondary School, Emma scored the highest aggregate in the West African Exams Council's Senior Secondary Certificate Exam and gained himself a national scholarship to pursue the IB diploma at Lester B. Pearson United World College in Canada . Having distinguished himself, he gained admission to Dartmouth University in NH where he now studies Biology and Mathematics with Pre-Med. He is a researcher at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where he is investigating Osteopontin and Thrombomodulin knock-out mice to determine factors responsible for collateral growth. He has pioneered and led several projects, including the management of an ecological reserve island, Racerocks, off the Pacific coast of Canada . Emma just completed a coveted program with the Credit Suisse Bank, based on his interest in its Health Care group. He is a Shelby Davis United World College Scholar and a balophone player for the Dartmouth College World Percussion Ensemble. Emma is fluent in French and Italian and hopes to pioneer a healthcare revolution in Ghana and Africa some day. In his spare time, he enjoys web designing, media editing or watching soccer.

Sadik Antwi Boampong

Sadik Antwi is a Founding Partner and Vice President of the Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. He graduated in the top 1% of his class at Achimota Secondary School where he was a Library Prefect and subsequently gained admission to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he studies Material Science Engineering and Economics with a minor in French. He published a novel "Crime in Disguise" at the age of 13 and has gained acclaim for his writing ever since. At MIT, he is a Chemistry tutor for other undergrads and works as a manager for the Alumni Association. He also assists with research at the Brain and Cognitive Science Department where his research interest is in Causal Learning. Sadik aspires to become an engineer and work in his native Ghana .

Mirian Frimpomaa Diop is a Founding Member and Board Secretary of Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. She graduated from St. Roses Secondary School with a near-perfect WAEC SSCE score and gained admissions to Tufts University to study Chemical Engineering with Pre-Med. At Tufts, Mirian is a Residential Assistant and a researcher at the Biomedical Engineering Department where she is investigating non-invasive in vivo cancerous cell tracking using Light Scattering Spectrometry. Mirian is a Science Section Editor for "Nyansapo", the journal of the Ghana Think Foundation. She just returned from doing volunteer relief work for Katrina victims in New Orleans . Mirian hopes to become a Chemical Engineer and doctor and work in her native Ghana . In her spare time she loves to dance or design 3D models using AutoCAD.

Bettye is a Founding Member and Projects Director of Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. She graduated from Wesley Girls' High School where she was a prefect, with a near-perfect WAEC SSCE score and was adjudged the 3 RD Best Overall Student in the 2003 West Africa Exams Council Excellence Awards. She transferred from the Medical School of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to the University of Washington in Seattle where she is studying Physiology and Pre-Med. Bettye has undertaken several projects and initiatives and is very passionate about philanthropy especially children's education and human development. She hopes to become a gynecologist and practice in Ghana . In her leisure time, Bettye loves to draw cartoons or hang out with friends.

Benjamin Owusu Akowuah III is a Founding Member and Director of Finance of Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. He holds a BA in African Studies and a BSc. in Economics from Ohio State University . He is a lifetime member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Societies. He is an alumnus of St. Augustine 's Secondary School, Bogoso, from where he graduated among the best in his class at age 16. He also briefly attended the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, where he was the Organizing Secretary of the Economics Students' Association. He currently works at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York , NY and plans to do an MBA after a brief stint at Wall Street. He hopes to eventually work in Ghana and start an Economics think tank there. His interests are Econometrics and Finance. In his spare time, he serves as the Business and Economics Editor for "Nyansapo", the Journal of the Ghana Think Foundation. He also loves to listen to music or discuss economic issues with friends.

Kwesi Nti-Addae is a Founding Member and Public Relations Director of Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. He graduated from Presec Legon where he distinguished himself as a prefect and sportsman. He gained admission to Grinnell University where he studies Economics and Finance. Kwesi Nti-Addae is involved in several extracurricular activities, the most prominent of which has been his work in advocacy for an NGO. Among his friends, he is known for his incredible social and human relations skills as well as his people management acumen. He hopes to work in business or banking in Ghana and he plays basketball in his free time.

Akua Mpomponsuo Opoku-Mensah is a Founding Member and Publications Director of the Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. She obtained her IB diploma from SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College at Tema with the award "Scholar of the Year" after having obtained a similar distinction on the IGCSE a few years prior. In high school, she was involved in several organizations and tutored for Street Children's Outreach. She is an Economics and Maths major at Yale, where she is also a Managing Editor for a development magazine yet to launch. Among other things, she was a founding member of Asempa, Yale's first African singing group and is also the current political chair of the Yale African Students Association. In her spare time, Akua loves to sing, practice her French or do volunteer work.

Richmond is a founding member and Projects Director of Ghana Youth leadership Alliance and its projects wings. After graduating from Prempeh College as one of the outstanding students of his class, he gained a national scholarship to pursue an IB diploma at the United World College of the American West in U.S.A. Having proven himself academically, he gained admission to Princeton University where he now pursues a degree in Molecular Biology. Richmond plans to study Neurosurgery and Biotechnological research later in Medical school. He is a Shelby Davis United World College Scholar and serves on the Board of the Princeton African Students Union, and the Princeton University International Consortium. He is also a staunch member of the Hunger Project. He just returned from volunteering in Mexico where he helped build schools and homes for the homeless. Richmond hopes to work in Ghana and envisions a revolutionized medical field in Ghana and Africa . He loves playing soccer, dancing and singing.

Dzigbodi is a Founding Member and Operations Manager of Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. She is an alum of Dr. Charles E. Brimm Medical Arts High School, a magnet school for the Sciences in New Jersey where she graduated with honors and among the top 5 scholars of her class. She is presently double concentrating in Bio-Community Health and Sociology at Brown University . She is a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow and hopes to pursue a doctoral degree in the humanities. As a Mellon Scholar, she is currently working on a research project, "Micro-level Conceptualizations of Identity vis-à-vis Continental Africa." She has also worked side by side with a contemporary African history scholar at Brown in developing an animated atlas of Africa and redesigning a course on "20th Century Africa ." Aside her intellectual pursuits, Dzigbodi finds time for several community services and on-campus activities. She is currently studying Indian Philosophy at the prestigious Lady Sri Ram College for Women in New Delhi , India . She also plans to volunteer at an AIDS orphanage in Delhi where she will be actively involved in literacy projects for children. Her favorite pastimes are dancing and traveling. Dzigbodi's long-term goal is to occupy a teaching position at the Sociology department of the University of Ghana , Legon.

Evans Owusu Nimako is Director of Information Technology for the Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. Evans studied briefly in Ghana , where he excelled in art and technology. He attained a BS in Computer Engineering and Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems from the University at Buffalo . He currently works for the Private Industry Council of New York , where he is Director of Information Systems. Always in pursuit of knowledge, he is currently working on his MS in Computer Information Systems at Boston University . Evans is president and founder of Kofa Inc., an IT solutions company specializing in giving small businesses a presence on the Internet. In his spare time, Evans likes to invent gadgets, modify cars, and take photographs.

Michelle A Wilson

Michelle is Director of Fundraising and Business Development for the Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings Gsoluxions and www.ghanaunite.com. She received her International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma from the SOS Hermann Gmeiner International College at Tema, where she graduated in the top 2% of her class. She is presently a Chemical Engineering major at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and plans, additionally, to minor in Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering. Michelle is passionate about scientific research and is currently investigating the factors that direct human embryonic stem cell differentiation at the world renowned Langer Lab, MIT, and at the Auguste Lab, Harvard. She has a number of publications and has received international awards for her writing. In her free time Michelle sings with the Chorallaries, MIT's premier co-ed a cappella group, and volunteers with MIT-EASE, an organisation of students who raise funds to sponsor the education of underpriveleged children in Ghana.

King Mills is the Ghana Country Director of the Ghana Youth Leadership Alliance and its projects wings. He graduated from the University of Ghana with a B.A. First Class Honors (highest distinction) in Political Science and Sociology. He also attended Presec, Legon where he was a distinguished student and active in several student organizations. At the 2005 Congregation of the University of Ghana , out of several thousand students, he was awarded the Alumni Prize for the Best Humanities Student in Level 200 for his previous academic performance. He was elected by the Department of Political Science to take part in an exchange program at the University of Guelph, Canada under the sponsorship of The Commonwealth Universities Study Abroad Consortium. In Ghana , King also served as the deputy organizing secretary of the Political Science Students' Association. King is currently serving as a teaching assistant at the Department of Political Science at the University of Ghana . He hopes to continue with graduate studies and pursue a career in international development or international relations. In his leisure time, King loves to listen to political talk shows and volunteer for development-oriented projects.
